We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, and Son, and Holy Ghost: to show forth in a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, with its effect, in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the privileges of a church relation; and to the Lord’s Supper, in which the members of the church by the sacred use of bread, and unfermented wine, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ preceded always by solemn self-examination; that we believe in immersion as the only form of baptism; but that baptism is not essential to salvation, yet is an outward sign and testimony that the believer has been recognized with Jesus Christ in death, burial and resurrection; that we baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost; that all believers should follow Christ’s example in baptism; that we recognize immersion baptism of the believer who is baptized scripturally (proper motive, proper method, and proper administrator); that we will accept the statement of a believer that they have been immersed; that any saved, born-again, baptized believer in Jesus Christ shall have the right to partake of the Lord’s Supper. However, at every Lord’s Supper the participating persons should be warned against taking the Lord’s Supper unworthily; that the Scripture states, they that take the Lord’s Supper unworthily, eat and drink damnation to themselves; that every parent should be responsible for his or her children in the taking of the Lord’s Supper, and if they think the child understands and is born-again, then let them feel free to allow their children to participate.
